New Years Day...time for a health kick!!

 We had a great simple family seeing in of the New Year last night after our manic few days...weeks... of socializing!! A tired out bunch of kids, salmon steaks and chicken kebabs on the BBQ in the menage and the compulsory flute of Champagne and here we are in 2012!

I start the year with a pact with my husband to have six weeks off alcohol and we have set ourselves the challenge of feeding us all in a different way so that we can spring about loaded with energy achieving more goals, ticking more boxes and generally making a productive start to the New Year...the kids are back at school in two days so time to 'put my ducks in a row' and clear the desk for a fresh start!
Upon Martin's recommendation I headed into the kitchen this morning and filled the blender with fruit, juice and vege!! Apparently this recipe comes from a friend of his who runs a Raw Food resort in Australia...and after a week or two you crave the greens and your body demands it! The resulting smoothie was a great start to the day and the year...we all indulged. I look forward to making this a daily ritual...if you too need an energy hit to kick start your New Year give it a go!!
 MARTIN'S RAW FOOD SMOOTHIE....

1 bananas
1 orange
1 other piece of fruit you have to hand...pineapple, apple, apricot, plum...
2 LARGE handfuls of anything green and leafy...kale, spinach, parsley, mint, spinach...

1. Put all the ingredients above in the blender.
2. Add water and/or freshly squeezed juice to get the right consistency.
3. Blitz for 15 seconds until smooth and a gorgeous shade of green.
4. Drink and feel the health!!
